(4.53) What if the regional center refuses to pay the copay, coinsurance, or deductible?

If you request a service or support, like funding of a copay, the regional center has 15 days to decide whether to authorize that service or support. [1]Section 4646(h). The regional center then has 5 days to send you a notice of action if they are denying your request. [2]Section 4710(b). If you and your regional center do not agree on a change to your current services, the regional center must give you a notice 30 days before the change begins. [3]Section 4710(a).

The notice must include the action the regional center wants to take, the reason, the effective date, the law supporting the action, and how to appeal, including referrals for advocacy help. The information must also be in the language you understand. [4]Section 4701(a)
