This chapter explains the Lanterman Developmental Disabilities Services Act, a California law that helps people with developmental disabilities lead productive lives in the community. We call this law the Lanterman Act or the Act. We explain the law and important things you should know about the legal system. We also explain how the Act protects your rights and helps you get and pay for services and supports you need. You may need to look at the actual language in the law to get the services you need.
