(10.18) If I am in the Self-Determination Program (SDP), do I have the same appeal rights?

Yes. The Self-Determination Program (SDP) is a way to get your regional center services. It is different than the regular or “traditional” system. With the SDP, you get a budget and can buy services yourself, without using regional center vendors if you don’t want to. But, the regional center is involved in setting your budget amount. Plus, you still have an Individual Program Plan (IPP) with the regional center. So, there could be a disagreement. You might disagree about your budget. You might disagree about something in the IPP process. You have the same appeal rights described in this chapter if you are in the SDP. See Chapter 3 for more information on the SDP.
